Norwegian delegation to assist in renewal of Polish law on Waste management

On April 12th the Polish Senate hosted a delegation from Norway to discuss a legal framework for waste management. The seminar had been organized as a direct follow up from discussions that took place during the Green Business Conference in Sandefjord last fall.

The Parliament is in the middle of a law process to inforce a new legal framework for waste management, and wanted to receive information about the Norwegian experience.

The Norwegian delegation presented top experience and knowledge of the field. Mrs Kari Aa from Klima og Forurensingsdirektoratet (Klif) gave a short presentation followed by round table discussions.

Frode Syversen of the Green Business Norway member company, Mepex Consult as,  shared information about practical aspects of Norwegian waste management and addressed some issues relevant for the currently discussed proposal of changes in Polish legal framework.The importance of introducing free market mechanisms in the waste treatment sector was emphasized.

It is expected that the seminar may have cruzial impact on the final act of law when the Parliament negotiations will take place later this year.
The seminar was an important part of Parliament’s preparations in deciding new regulations related to waste management.
