Circular Based Waste Management project partners from Lithuania, travelled to Norway to visit entities that apply best practices waste management, recycling and repurposing of bulky and food waste.
The delegation toured Sirkula IKS, a waste management company that owns Resirkula, a large waste management and recycling centre. The group learned about the centre’s activities, including its secondary use unit for student education. Resirkula accepts unwanted items for recycling, which are repaired or upcycled and sold in their stores.
The organization and technologies used were of interest to visitors, as a similar centre is planned in Mažeikiai. They also visited Heggvin Large Waste Management Center, which manages waste from companies.
The delegation then visited Vesar APA, a food and livestock waste recycling company. Vesar collects and recycles waste into climate-friendly biogas, used for production and heating, as well as biofertilizers for organic farming. Vesar also operates the “Magic Factory“, a knowledge centre with greenhouses for growing tomatoes and teaching waste recycling to students.
